Connect a mail client

Send and receive mail from Outlook, Thunderbird, the Gmail app, or any real IMAP/SMTP email client — available on every plan, no upgrade needed.

1. Generate an app password

From webmail, go to Settings → Mail Client Access → Generate app password. Use this password (not your account login password) when your mail client asks — it's a separate, revocable credential scoped to just this purpose.

SMTP (sending)

Use these settings for outgoing mail.

Client-specific steps

Gmail app (Android/iOS)

  1. In the Gmail app, go to Settings → Add account → Other.
  2. Enter your full Umail address, then choose "Personal (IMAP)" when asked.
  3. For incoming server settings, enter the IMAP host/port/security above and your app password.
  4. For outgoing server settings, enter the SMTP host/port/security above — username and password are the same as incoming.

Thunderbird

  1. Go to Account Settings → Account Actions → Add Mail Account.
  2. Enter your name, full email address, and the app password.
  3. Thunderbird will try auto-detection — if it doesn't find the right settings, choose Configure Manually and enter the IMAP/SMTP settings above exactly.

Outlook (desktop)

  1. Go to File → Add Account, and enter your full email address.
  2. If Outlook offers automatic setup, let it try first; otherwise choose advanced/manual setup.
  3. Select IMAP, then fill in the incoming and outgoing server settings above, using the app password.
